Anti-Hindu’, ‘Insult to Soldiers’: BJP Slams Naseeruddin Shah’s Post
Actor’s support for Diljit Dosanjh and remarks on “Kailasa” stir political controversy

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has found himself at the center of a political controversy after a viral social media post in support of singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh drew sharp criticism from BJP leaders. The post, which referred to Pakistan and “Kailasa,” was labelled “anti-Hindu” by Maharashtra BJP MLA Ram Kadam, who demanded a public apology.
Naseeruddin Shah defends Diljit amid casting backlash
Shah took to Facebook to express support for Diljit Dosanjh, who faced backlash for casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. In his post, Shah clarified, “He was not responsible for the casting of the film, the director was. But no one knows who he is whereas Diljit is known the world over, and he agreed to the cast because his mind is not poisoned.”
He further added, “My response to those who will say ‘Go to Pakistan’ is — ‘Go to Kailasa’.” The statement quickly went viral and sparked outrage across political circles.
BJP hits back: Ram Kadam demands apology
Ram Kadam reacted strongly, accusing Shah of disrespecting Hindu sentiments. “Naseeruddin Shah has insulted our brave soldiers, he has insulted crores of Hindus and the sanctity of Kailasa.”
Speaking to the media, he asked, “Who told you to go to Pakistan? Kailasa is our sacred land, it is Shiv Bhoomi, a place of Sanatan culture. Why is Naseeruddin Shah equating it with Pakistan?”
He also questioned Shah’s silence on terror attacks, stating, “Has he forgotten the Pahalgam attack? Has he forgotten that Pakistan is India’s sworn enemy? Is his love for Pakistan greater than his love for India? Those who lost their families in terror attacks — has he ever spoken for them?”
Kadam warned Diljit to stay away from individuals who, according to him, stand against “Maa Bharti”. The timing of this controversy is significant, as it comes just ahead of the BMC elections in Maharashtra.
